A convertible is a cross between a Tablet PC and a laptop computer. Typically they have the same type of screen as a Tablet PC, but also have all of the functionality of a laptop.
Wide range of adopters
Since convertibles can operate as either a laptop or a slate, whatever preference the user has for input (pen, keyboard, or microphone) he or she can use.
More portable than a laptop
Since convertibles are designed to be highly portable they are smaller, lighter, and more power conscious than most laptops. Since many convertibles are designed to be used in the field as well as the office most are designed to carry two batteries for extra time between charges.
More powerful than a slate
Since convertibles are larger than a slates they generally have accessories that a slate cannot include such as: keyboard, mousing device, optical drive. The larger size also allows for a more powerful processor to be included in the unit.
Still uses Windows XP Tablet Edition
Since convertibles still have and active pen for they can run Windows XP Tablet Edition and get all of the features that Windows XP Tablet has to offer.
